Question: In the portion, Jacob blesses Joseph's sons. He says:

May the angel who redeemed me from all evil bless the lads and call them by my name and the names of my father Abraham and Isaac, and may they become a multitude in the land. Today many Jews say this before bed. What does this blessing mean to you?

I think that people tell their children this blessing at bedtime because they want to remind them that they are Jews and descendants of Abraham and Isaac. They also want to inform their children that they will be protected by G-d.
