Observe Tisha B'Av with CBE (Online)
On Tishah B'Av (the 9th of Av), we commemorate the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem, and we also remember the suffering of past generations—God's decree against the Israelites in the wilderness, the fall of Betar, the expulsion from Spain and the Holocaust. We hope you will join in one or both of the sessions below:
Saturday, July 17, 9:45 PM
This year instead of an evening service at Beth Emeth, we encourage you to join the Conservative Movement on Saturday at 9:45 PM. Camp Ramah Nyack will livestream their Eicha (Book of Lamentations) reading for all, on the Rabbinical Assembly's YouTube account. You can follow along here.
Sunday, July 18, 9:00 AM
Then, join the Beth Emeth community for a special Sunday morning Tisha B'Av Torah service on Zoom. We'll use the special Siddur Tisha B'Av shown below. Some customs and parts of the service are different from our usual services, as summarized in this article.
Links & Information for the Sunday Service
- Zoom: The Zoom link will the the same as for our usual Sunday minyan.
- Siddur: You can view the Siddur Tisha B'Av online (we advise viewing it on a second screen, such as a laptop or tablet, as it is too long to print). Or, Beth Emeth members can borrow a siddur from CBE on Thursday or Friday; please email office@bethemeth.org to arrange a pickup time.
