Songwriting with Stacy Beyer

CBE's got talent! Below are audio files and lyrics for three songs that were written by congregation members of all ages in workshops with noted Jewish country music star Stacy Beyer, who composed the music. These events were part of a November, 2013 Artist-in-Residence Weekend held to celebrate the Installation of Rabbi Michelle (Mina) Goldsmith.

Listen to Healing

Verse 1:
Healing is a journey
And it takes time
Working through the pain within
To touch the other side
I am learning how to get there
Through the chaos in my soul
Healing is a journey
On the road to being whole

Chorus:
Healing
Healing
Healing

Verse 2:
Sometimes when the hurt’s so strong
And my heart is afraid
Adonai, eloheinu
Can I really face this day?
And if I fail
And if I fall
I will look to you
The source of all...

Chorus:
Healing
Healing
Healing

Bridge:
And when I need it most
I pray healing in my soul

Chorus:
Healing
Healing
Healing...

Hineini

Words by CBE Chai School Students
Music by Stacy Beyer

Listen to Hineini

Verse 1:
Some days are long and lonely days
On the journey to discovery
But now we’re standing face to face
And I know that this was meant to be

Chorus:
Hineini
Here I am
Finally where I want to be
Hineini
Body, heart and soul
For my people for my family
I am here
Hineini

Verse 2:
I am in the moment, fully here
I feel g’ds power
With every beat of my heart
And now it’s all becoming clear
Because I’ve chosen to let this moment start

Chorus:
Hineini
Here I am
Finally where I want to be
Hineini
Body, heart and soul
For my people for my family
I am here
Hineini

Bridge:
I will not fade away
Do you hear me
I’m staying on this road
Because g’d is always near me

Chorus:
Hineini
Here I am
Finally where I want to be
Hineini
Body, heart and soul
For my people for my family
I am here
Hineini

Hurricane

Words by CBE 6th & 7th Graders
Music by Stacy Beyer

Listen to Hurricane

Verse 1:
Rain, so much rain
Falling down like tears
Can we fix the pain
Can we make it better
Life always has
Has its ups and downs
Throws you side to side
And you really never know
When you’ll find yourself
In the middle of a...

Chorus:
Hurricane
Stuck in the middle
Of all this madness we call life
In the hurricane
Unexpectedly shakes reality
Just trying to make our way
Through the hurricane

Verse 2:
Lightening cracks
Darkness comes back
Sweeping through our hearts
Trying not to fall apart
We know we’ll do
What we have to do
To conquer and survive
We know who we are
And it doesn’t matter if
We’re in the middle of a...

Chorus:
Hurricane
Stuck in the middle
Of all this madness we call life
In the hurricane
Unexpectedly shakes reality
Just trying to make our way
Through the hurricane

Bridge:
And then for a moment the rain is gone
There’s a sense of sanity
You’re thinking of home
It’s calm and peaceful
You’re not being torn
And you find your strength
In the eye of the storm

Chorus:
Hurricane
Stuck in the middle
Of all this madness we call life
In the hurricane
Unexpectedly shakes reality
Just trying to make our way
Through the hurricane
