Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE) is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Herndon, VA, part of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. With approximately 400 Jewish families, we consider ourselves “just the right-size”—large enough to meet the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our members while preserving the warmth of a close-knit community.
At Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE), we recognize that each person finds meaning in their religious identity in their own way. We offer a diversity of opportunities to help you find your Jewish voice. We offer a variety of religious services, from traditional minyanim (prayer quorums) to youth services and musical family services.
We have adult education opportunities of all kinds from hands on making of tallitot (prayer shawls) and cooking to participating in the CBE Chorale to studying Jewish literature to learning how to chant Torah.
Our auxiliary organizations – Men’s Club, Sisterhood and Hazak – offer numerous social and learning opportunities: from Minyan and Munch events with educational speakers to favorite social events such as Vodka and Latkes, the annual Chocolate Party, and Game Nights.
Recognizing that it is the obligation of Jews everywhere to help in the process of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, we organize many opportunities for CBE members do their part to be a light to the world. We participate in food drives, walks for the homeless, hypothermia awareness, interfaith activities, and more.
And finally, we at CBE recognize the changing structure of American Jewish families. We make no distinction between our interfaith families, single-parent families, singles, same-sex families and our “traditional” families. Each is simply a CBE family.
